First things first I find I always shop alot better on my own
- you can wander round and spend as much or as little time in one shop without feeling guilty.
- friends or family can persuade to buy that dress that you're not quite sure about. If you're not sure about something don't get it. It will only end up sitting in your wardrobe with the tags on.
- you don't want to be wearing a complicated outfit that takes 10 minutes to get in and out of when you are shopping and want to try things on. Wear something that is easy to get on and off in a flash : )
- Looking for jeans? If you tend to wear your jeans with heels then go shopping in heels. As much as standing on your tip toes can help see if they are too long/short, nothing beats wearing your actual heels so you can see how they fall on your shoes.
- Shopping for a party dress? Make sure you are wearing a bra that is multi functional and nude. You can never get a good idea if you are wearing the wrong type of bra, have your bra straps showing on a strapless dress or your black bra is glaring through your thin pastel dress.
- Wearing an across the body bag frees up both your arms so you don't have to do a juggling act when grabbing things off shelves.
- If they offer it grab a basket or trolley, it makes it easier trying to keep hold of ten hangers with all the contents still on it.
The dress I am wearing for my Christmas party next Saturday was bought in the height of summer for £18 when they were getting rid Autumn/Winter 2011 stock.
Finally make a list of things you are on the look out for. It doesn't have to be specific, it could simply be a tartan skirt or a statement clutch. It just means that it can help keep you focused on what you are looking for rather than just wandering round aimlessly.
Before you know it you will be a fully fledged shopoholic : )
